Turning 25: Quarter-Century Life Crisis (Dream, Drive, Purpose, Uplift)
The first thing I realized when I turned the big "Two-Five", "I won't be on the top 25 under 25." After all, I am not where I hoped to be by the time I turned 25. Back in the 90's growing up in Montgomery County, Maryland, all throughout elementary school, I've always thought by the age of 25 I would be a house-hold name, some big time movie star, international singer, first trillionairre, etc. Yes trillionairre. I can't even hold a note, but some how I convinced myself that I would be the next Beyonce, Singing, dancing and, oh, along with being the illest rapper alive. Oh yes, I have big dreams. In fact, that's an understatement. My motto is "Why have a million dollar dream, when you can have a billion dollar dream;" in this case, a trillion dollar dream. That was one of the few phases I heard over and over again from my parents, particularly my dad. For that reason, I dream and kept dreaming.
Fast forward to now at 25, I am still dreaming. What have I done to make my dream an reality? What am I most passionate about? Do I want to continue another 5 years of my life just dreaming or do I want to begin living out my dream? July 11, 2014 1:19 AM I stayed up reflecting on life. What have I done? Who am I? Why am I not in a closer walk with Christ than I should be? At this point I should know what I want to do in life. I should know what's God's will for my life. My passion should be clear. Yet, I still have no idea. Stuck. If my goal is to make it on the list top 30 under 30 then I have a lot of work to do in order to get there.
However, getting on some list shouldn't be your sole purpose of hustling. No. I am going to do what God has lay on my heart. One thing I realized is that our passions, desires, and goal comes to us easily. It is what you love to do. What keeps you up all night, what excites you, your hobbies etc. You enjoy doing it whether you get paid to do it or for free. It's what you love to do. Once you discover that, then the next step is to figure out how to brand your passion. How do I turn it into a business? How do I get paid to do what I love? This, my friend, is possible. It takes hard work, patience, and networking, but it is possible.

Human Trafficking: Awareness
Most often time people believe prostitutes live a glamorous life style and experience financial freedom; however, it is quiet contrary to many women actually in that world. Many are forced into prostitution or related sex trafficking activities. I am extremely passionate on the issue of human trafficking as well as sexual assault and domestic violence. Its alarming to know as I read stories told by the survivors on how they became victims of human trafficking; whether by the false promise of employment, boyfriend/husband, neighbor, parent, abduction, etc. A few things I learned that I didn't know exist was domestic sex trafficking; in which, wives/mothers are force to have sex with others under the control of their husband or long-term boyfriend. Even worse, children sold into sex trafficking by their own parents to pay off a debt.
It is becoming more common for single mothers to fall victim of human trafficking as a result of the false promise of employment. Below are links to sites in which survivors tell their story:
Quick facts:
What is the most common recruitment method?
Traffickers most often promise their victims exciting jobs, but promises of marriages and educational opportunities are also common.
"Many women who are trafficked are forced into prostitution against their will. They are beaten, raped, and abused. They go abroad based on false promises of good jobs, educational opportunities, and offers of marriage, often with the ambition to make a better life for their children and families. Some women lack the education they need to find a good job, while others are professionals who cannot find work in their chosen profession. Domestic sex trafficking:
The Polaris Project also tells Mari’s story: “With four children between them and a 16-year relationship, Mari couldn’t imagine leaving Darrell. She didn’t see any viable options, even though he was physically abusive and forced her into commercial sex when money was tight.”
